Genes

An all american basic, ever changing, and each one is as unique as DNA. I recently  picked up a pair of the new J-Brand acid wash denim. They’re super comfy, trendy, and the label on the tag encourages you to distress them how you like to make the all your own.

The recent trend is the boyfriend look, loose, slouchy and super relaxed. I am the obvious fan with my love of anything thats comfortable. However, i find that this trend is rejected by most. A lot of people dont want to look like theyre wearing their older brother’s hand-me-downs and live on the pain is beauty” mantra as the jump on their beds trying to squeeze on a freshly washed pair of skinny sevens.

We can even see that although this pair of J-Brands is going for 300$ in an earlier post a fashion design student at Ryerson replicated the look for almost free. Most people don’t jump at the chance to throw down 3 bills for something that others make on the cheap.

So I now wonder what the next big jean trend will be?

Battaglia

Hey guys! I know I havent posted in a while. I found out recently that I didnt get accepted into the Ryerson Fashion Communications program, so I have been bitter enough to cease posting on my Ryhighstyle blog. However, there is something that I would like to share with you

Giovanna Battaglia.

This girl, former model, has enough style and she is also a successful stylist. Check out some of her phenomenal work at art-dept.com!

She is often followed by blogger extrodianaires like The Sartorialist and Garance Dore, who you can find both on my blog roll. They’re two bloggers who I catch up with on a regular basis and suggest that you do too!

Until next time!

MAXI-mum Comfort:)!

One thing I love for summer, and even for when back to school starts and it’s still warm is the Maxi Dress!

Loose and comfy and as easy to put on as track pants, yet way prettiers and it looks like you put a whole lot of energy in to your outfit. The bright colors really make you stand out and it’s perfect for a summer dinner or beach too!

Word 2 the Weyes

Hey guys,  I’d like to thank you for visiting and commenting and constantly returning to my page. It was alright, I feel it was a good start, but it obviously wasn’t the greatest style blog you have ever seen. I had to getover the barriers of being new with a SLR and the nerves of walking up to totally cool looking people and asking them if I could steal just a piece of their awesomeness for my own blog-centered selfish benefit. And now the year is done and the Ryerson campus is dry and barren. But its not over!

I will continue to post throughout the summer on any great back to school styles I find, or cool stores close to the school and next year when I come back, I will be better prepared and Ryhigh will be better than ever!

I found this other really great style blog too! If you already know about the Sartorialist (www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com) and the facehunter, or some of the other guys in my blog roll, there is also http://streetpeeper.com/ which has some really fashion forward looks from different cities all over the world to be inspired from! Enjoy!!

My first word of advice would be to check out shots from Amsterdam or Stockholm. Theyre so creative with their style there, its fantastic!:)

Mass Exciting!!

Anybody who knows anything about anything about Ryerson Fashion School knows that Mass Exodus happened this past week and was an ENORMOUS success!

It was a spectacle in itself with revolvers, light shows, and stilt walkers, and on top of that an amazing fashion show with some crazy, unique pieces that I want for myself!

I’ll post a link to the video when it shows up but for now there are phenominal high-res pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/massexodus

Some favorites would be:

This dress I would wear to a Gala, an Red Carpet, heck i’d wear it anywhere and everywhere if I could own it, It’s gorgeous. It would make the girl in it feel like a grecian goddess. Or maybe thats just me. But I love the luxurious blue and purple pattern on the bust, the multicolor beading for the waist, and the pleated bottom. You can tell a lot of calulation, planning and imagination went into this piece. I WANT!!

From the Walking Tall Collection, by Jennifer Allison, I loved the deer and If you were lucky enough to attend mass exodus on the second day of shows, the collection included a stilt walker which made the presentation extra fierce.

deeeeeeeeeeeer

And there is no other word to describe the final look, but epic
